You Don't Have To Compromise To Be Recognized

Executive Producer Ms. Gloria Taylor

Occupation/background: The past 15 years I have been the producer, owner, radio personality and host of The Motivations with Gloria Taylor Radio Show and Internet Radio Station Worldwide. The Motivations with Gloria Radio Show is Beach Boogie and Blues Sunday morning inspiration show. The show airs every Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on 101.1 FM (Jacksonville), 102.9 FM (Kinston), 95.7 FM (New Bern), 105.9 FM (Greenville), and worldwide at www.motivationswithgloriaradioshow.com.

Facts about you: A native of Jacksonville, I am the youngest of seven children born to the late Betty and Joseph Ginyard, and also the mother of a beautiful daughter, Germilia Renee Taylor. I am a graduate of Jacksonville High School and completed studies in real estate sales and brokerage. Inspired by my daughter to continue to build on what God has given me, I am a graduate of Capella University.  I obtained my BS degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Leadership.

I am the first African American woman to produce, direct and host a local TV show in Eastern North Carolina through Time Warner Cable, Fox 8 & 14 and Suddenlink Cable, called Motivation Talk Show. I am the first African American woman to become a radio personality with her own show called The Motivations with Gloria Radio Show on Beach Boogie Blues, which is known as their Sunday morning inspiration show from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Why you do what you do? The reason I do what I do is because I know who I am in God, and that is to empower others worldwide; also to change a generation. The Lord had a plan for my life to break through barriers as a single mother with a daughter who was just entering middle school and being homeless having nowhere to go after 15 years of a marriage that ended in a divorce; also having the responsibility of taking care of my mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer and eventually lost the battle to breast cancer. The pain had a purpose and time that God would release me into my destiny. In 2006 the Lord birth The Motivations with Gloria Taylor Radio Show. Today I motivate, educate and inspire listeners worldwide. The broadcast has touched lives through our celebrities’ interviews, straight talk, motivational moments, business owners, churches and new and upcoming artists who are trying to break into the entertainment industry.

What inspires you? I am inspired by hosting an annual event in September called The Pillar of Strength Award Banquet. The event allows me to honor those who demonstrate support, respect, strong character, and positive beliefs that contribute to the development of our communities, cities, states and union. The event allows me to give back to the Carolina Rivers Nursing Rehabilitation Center by donating portable radios to those who are less fortunate.

Advice to women in your profession? The advice I would love for all women to remember is that the Lord thy God will never leave you nor forsake you. Yes, the job is big. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, we have enemies. But remember God. He’s bigger. He’s great. He’s awesome. So don’t be afraid of those puny, little enemies out there. Yes, they look huge, but they’re not so big next to God. Once you tap into your inner man and discover the power you have within, you find out that God had already ordained and equipped you for your profession all you have to do is keep the faith and allow him to get the Glory out of your life.

Message to community: Acts 1:14: They all joined together constantly in prayer and supplication, along with the women Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. My prayer is that the communities, cities, states and union will bring prayer back into the schools because it builds morality. Along with the values taught and upheld by the school system, prayer lays a foundation for those principles. Prayer can help guide students to make the right decisions and better choices throughout the school year. Community who prays together stays together. Also prayer is a key essential to success.

What we don’t know about you: Mother Teresa once said if you are humble, nothing will touch you, neither praise or disgrace, because you know who you are. So always be humble and give more honors to others than yourselves so that you might accomplish God’s special mission for your life. I am always in tune when encountering others looking for an unmet need in our community. I have been blessed to sew my gifts and talents back into the Onslow County School System, as a substitute teacher Avid tutor. I am able to enrich the lives of students from all walks of life. While doing so, I have discovered such gifted and talented individuals in Onslow County Schools. I was led by God to have a senior at Jacksonville High School by the name of Kelvin Newkirk to be the guest speaker at this year’s Pillar of Strength Award Banquet, encouraging the ten honorees and letting them know why students need individuals such as them as mentors. When we learn to take our eyes off ourselves and push others into their purpose then you have fulfilled God special mission for your life.
