on Locals Making a Difference in their Communities

Ten community members will be honored at a banquet on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 in Jacksonville. The 2nd Annual Pillars of Strength Awards banquet will recognize educators, community leader, college professor a doctor and others from the legal field and athletic industry.
Ms. Gloria Taylor, host of the Motivations with Gloria Radio Show, which airs in Jacksonville, New Bern and Greenville as Beach Boogie and Blues Sunday morning inspiration 9am to 11am, said she started the awards program to honor “individuals who demonstrate support, respect, strong character, and positive beliefs that contribute to the development of our communities, cities, state and nation.”
The honorees include Atlantic Medical Group Dr. Eric Ibegbu, Hunter Creek Middle School principal Jocelyn Cassidy, retired teacher Mildred Stephens, college professor of Winston Salem State University Dr. Yolanda Byrd, and community leader Gloria Baker Goodwin.
Judicial assistant Robin Bright trail court coordinator will also receive an award along with Lieutenant Levi Simmons, Coach Kendrick Pollock, Coach Tony Marshburn, and Attorney Ernie Wright.
Motivations Talk Show host Gloria Taylor will serve as emcee. The award banquet will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. at Infant of Prague Catholic Church banquet hall on 214 South Marine Blvd. Tickets are $25 and are still available also ads can be purchased to congratulate honorees also to promote your business.
